Dragon Ball Char in Progress Pattern

Recently i've been working on Anime for my close ones... And i really don't like the nose-less anime characters with buttoned eye, so i decided to make a customized Anime Head as after all, the big cute eyes are the main attraction to Anime in my perspective :P

I know... my embroidered eyes are hideous... hey its a testing piece so i don't mind. The head seem to fit nearly any Anime series like Inuyasha, Dragon Ball and so... The heads are just too cute so i made few of them but too lazy to embroider them.

How to Make it is below :)

This is how i started my work and yes it took hours and hours of opening rows and redoing the "Math" till i get it right. Somehow im still not satisfied with the nose as its cute but its not sharp enough for me :P Was thinking to add in plain row of sc in between of the increase n decrease rows at the nose part but then im afraid i will ruin this cute head. So i will do it later. My work in progress and how terrible my Pattern writing was. Its as big as my palm, yup BIG head and small body goes well in chibi version, but some how i feel that this isnt a chibi version or is it?

Okie, the Pattern... Here you go :D

There that's just the head :) For the eyes, just a patch of white (don't do in circle, it looks weird) hmm... i will try putting the exact way i did, but please try your own way as long as it just gets the shape it needed. Cos after all you gonna sew it on the head with white yarn and embroider the black eyeliners and pupils. Oh yes i forgot the eye brow, but eye brow ears and hair style differs from what character you are working on right. So I'll leave that up to you :P

(I wasnt suppose to continue this pattern set, but just sharing them for those interested in these thread instead of new one)

The larger side of the eye is the top while the smaller side of the eye is bottom. The eye patch may be different depending on the character. So play with it :)

I notice, if i never stuff in properly the Head looks small and dull, so make it as plumpy as possible. It looks CUTE!!

Oh for those who wants to know how i support the head (Neck + Wire poked inside before stuffing the head complete and bending it back to the neck)

here is the neck pattern just for incases

The Basic neck support is a triangle like shape to hold the head as the head is big.

The Triangle Pattern are :

1) chain 2 <- If you dont like the pointy edge which will be missing after you place the hair, you may start at chain 5 or more as it wont look pointy. (I use the starting string to sew it up to the head when im done) 2) inc in second chain, chain turn 3) sc in first sc to the second last. At the end stitch use inc (as i dont like sc in the chain), chain an turn... 4) repeat row 3 till you get the height you need for the neck to start the joint. Then move on to the type of Anime you are creating, either Warrior, Women,Plain (Will update the Women, and Plain Anime, when i start working on them :P)

The Neck for Warrior like Anime :

1 Triangle 10 rows and chain 12 chain to edge of triangle making it loop (Note : Triangle shape is above)
2 sc all over the chain too, making sure the chain don’t twist it
3 sc all, making sure the chain don’t twist it
4 4sc, inc = repeats <-- makes the neck look bigger and tougher 5 sc all 6 [10sc, inc, inc, inc, ]x2 <-- shoulders start forming 7 [10sc, inc, inc, inc, inc, inc, inc] x2 8 12sc (on shoulder), dec, 6sc, dec (front), 12 sc (shoulder), 10sc (back) 9 2sc, incx10, 2sc (shoulder), dec, 4sc, dec (front), 2sc, incx10, 2sc (shoulder) 10sc 10 sc all.

The arms are worked in one way, and um its not a complete pattern, just simply sharing to help out. Make sure you pay attention to the front and back of the chest as we are continuing for left arm ( i believe you dont need to cut off your previous yarn and just keep going)

(Note, i haven't finish the hands yet, will finish it when i have the time, was thinking of mini gloves like, but not sure, maybe working flat two piece and sewn together will do, simple... yet... fingers... ah then the 4 chain magic ring fingers will do... oh confusing...)

  1. Your ability to figure out how to do this is amazing to me. I can crochet but I can't sculpt with yarn like you did on the face.

  2. Thanks, i really appreciate your comment, it kinda boost my spirit :D

It takes a lot of "redo" rows to get the shape right as i wanted.

  3. Shouldn't rounds 22 and 23 of the left arm have 12 stitches each, not 10? Great post, btw. This is such detailed work.
