Cute Little Bird

Wanted to make Lovely Love Birds, as the season of pink effecting me greatly... around end of the year i get reminded of my sweet romantic memories... err instead of bugging him all the time, as that's what i do when i feel pinky... i think i bad let out my feelings in pink... It will sure be a cute valentine gift too right :D

Its kinda a miniature

Hook Size : B (2.25mm)
Yarn : Acrylic "Nona Brand" (Slightly thinner then lionbrand)

 Note on Abbreviation used often :
inc = Increase
dec = Decrease
sc = Single Crochet
Additional Note : This is not doily, so when it says "5sc inc in all", it means "sc, sc, sc, sc,sc, inc" then repeat it till end of the row)
The "Magic Ring 5 Chain" is a typo, its just 5mg or 5 magic ring / circle.

The Black one was the inspiration as it was previously a grim reaper... that look awe-fully cute and err... grim reaper looks weird in cute form... so... i transform it into a black crow... but have no idea on the wings nor tail, so came online for some picture of bird species... (no way im making all of the bird species, but only the one amuse me)

Trying to figure out how to do birds Amigurumi on own is confusing at first, but now it takes only 1 hour to do as the pattern is simple yet the tail and beak is pretty annoying and im not satisfied with it yet, maybe will try experimenting with tails just like wings... Anyway, there my dad mistaken the bird as a duck as i put tiny beads as the eye... (thats duck like with yellow bow is a pattern that i skipped row 12 and 13... as was simply doing it without referring to my notes) Just a note that the tail is pointing down wards and not up. So its not a duck after all :P

Wanted to post only about that cute bird shape but then... i guess i will post all.

end string long enough to sew it.

I stuff in as i went, so its easier later, the tummy side and the head needs to be stuffed firmly...

I added one or two more dc so the yarn will be seating just nice at the top side belly like the picture above (Finish off the long end so it don't run), cut off the yarn long enough to sew them up... i think its called sewing in mattress stitch i guess... i never paid attention in "Kemahiran Hidup" class in high-school and never realize i will be sewing in the future.

Matress stitch... or aaa i see it as sewing like the above picture and repeating non stop creating that curl like stitch... (ignore this if you understand the picture, as i seriously have no idea how to explain sewing)

I love it looking like these... simple but then a bird should have its tail, legs and wings or its not a bird... my mind and my heart argues again... hmm... so why not play along, whats stopping me anyway right?

Wings

The wings are based on Baby Dragon Wings type 2,

3
sc, sc, inc, inc, inc, inc
4
inc, inc, sc x8

5
sc x 4, dec x 4

6
dec x 4

7
whip stitch the sides up accoding to shape

Just sew them up and done... (Im not sure what kinda wings would suit this little one as thought of making love birds for the upcoming valentine in 1-2 months)

Beak

Done with surface stitch, 7 surface stitch all together to start the first row. Follow the picture as guideline...

The first 3 surface stitch, then the 4th will be curving by the edge like the picture above.

The 5th stitch is like ordinary stitch above, and just as the 4th stitch, diagonally curve and stitch the 6th stitch towards the first stitch.

At the 7th stitch is a redo at the first stitch so it holds without hole

The second row, Dec , sc, dec, sc and it will look like the picture above, cut off the thread and stuff in the beak from the center (should have a tiny hole, which cant be seen much) slowly pull from the back of the head using a hook and push it back in, so the beak looks small and cute. Or just sew it up and hide it off.

Legs

To make the leg start of with a simple surface stitch, 3 chains and surface sc stitch within that same place you start your stitch, repeat 3 times and your done! Do the same for the other leg (It will look like 3 petal flower) = Its 3 Little Picots.

Im experimenting with many colors and many accessories and they all starting to turn out quiet adorable, i guess i will make a mini nest for them and put up the picture of them all later on. I keep getting distracted on things i wanted to do... a dreamer as usual.

Note : This pattern is free for personal use or trades and not commercial usage.
